Colossians 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness.

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

2. both of commission

Romans 3:13–15 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: their feet are swift to shed blood.

Romans 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Galatians 5:19–21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like.

3of that which God forbids, and of omission

Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful.

Romans 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Daniel 9:6, 13 Neither have we hearkened unto Thy servants the prophets, which spake in Thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. (13) As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand Thy truth.

4of that which God demands, internal

Genesis 8:21 The imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.

Matthew 7:21, 22 Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?

Acts 8:21 Thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

I John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

5. and external

Psalm 37:12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

Matthew 27:39–40 And they that passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads, and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save Thyself.

Matthew 12:34 Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Matthew 5:21, 22 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Galatians 5:19–21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

6sins, voluntary

7. and involuntary sins

Romans 1:21–23 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

Acts 5:2–3 (Ananias) kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

11. and directly against the sinner’s self

12. or against his neighbor,
