26 – The Son


THE SON

§ 26. The Son is personally,1 from eternity,2 the only begotten3 Son of the Father,4 very God,5 and equal with the Father in divine essence6 and thus in divine attributes7 and glory,8 and with the Father from eternity spirates the Holy Ghost.9


1. The Son is personally,

Matthew 17:5 This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him!

John 20:17 I am not yet ascended to My Father… I ascend unto My Father, and your Father; unto My God, and your God.

Psalm 2:7 The Lord hath said unto Me, Thou art My Son; this day have I begotten Thee.


2. from eternity,

Micah 5:2 Out of thee shall He come forth unto me that is to be the Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

John 8:58 Before Abraham was, I am.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.


3. the only begotten

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:18 He hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I John 4:9 God sent His only begotten Son into the world.


4. Son of the Father,

John 1:14 The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him.


5. very God,

Jeremiah 23:6 And this is His name whereby He shall be called, The Lord our Righteousness.

John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God.

John 1:1–2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.

Psalm 110:1 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit Thou at My right hand.

I Timothy 3:16 God was manifest in the flesh.

I John 5:20 We are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.


6. and equal with the Father in divine essence

John 10:30 I and My Father are one.

John 14:9 He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father.

Matthew 18:20 Where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.

Ephesians 1:23 Which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all.

8. and glory,

John 5:23 That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father which hath sent Him.

Philippians 2:11 That every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Hebrews 1:6 When He bringeth in the first begotten into the world, He says, And let all the angels of God worship Him.

John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine own self with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was. (Cf. John 1:1)


9. and with the Father from eternity spirates the Holy Ghost.
