NINTH AND TENTH COMMANDMENTS

 § 85. The Law condemns all men even because of the evil inclinations and moral impurities of their hearts.


Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor’s.

Deuteronomy 5:21 Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbor’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbor’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or anything that is thy neighbor’s.

Romans 7:14, 18 For we know that the Law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. (18) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can be.

Romans 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

James 1:14–15 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
