§ 97. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, very God, begotten of the Father from eternity,1 and also true man,2 conceived by the Holy Ghost 3 and born of the Virgin Mary,4 in the fulness of time.

Jeremiah 23:6 And this is His name whereby He shall be called, The Lord our Righteousness.

Matthew 1:18, 20 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with Child of the Holy Ghost. (20) For that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that Holy Thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
