OCCUPATION OF GOOD ANGELS

§ 64. The good angels serve God in worshiping Him,1 doing His pleasure, and executing His commandments as His messengers and ministers2 for the promotion of His purposes,3 especially in the church and for the protection and guidance of the heirs of salvation.4


1. The good angels serve God in worshiping Him,

Daniel 7:10 Thousand thousands ministered unto Him and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. Cf. Revelation 4:8–11.


2. doing His pleasure, and executing His commandments as His messengers and ministers

Psalm 103:21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye His hosts, ye ministers of His, that do His pleasure.


3. for the promotion of His purposes,

Matthew 1:20 Behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto Him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife. Cf. Luke 1:11. Luke 2:9–14. Matthew 2:13, 19. Mark 16:6–7.

Matthew 28:2 The angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door. Cf. John 20:12. Acts 1:10–11.

Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
