37 – Justice
JUSTICE
§37. God is just, inasmuch as He is His own perfect ethical norm,1 a legislator whose laws are true utterances of His holy will,2 a judge whose judgments are in perfect conformity with His laws,3 an executor whose retribution is in full consistency with His jugdments,4 and a father who executes His gracious and good will upon His children according to His promise.5
1. God is just, inasmuch as He is His own perfect ethical norm,
Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.
Psalm 145:17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works.
Psalm 89:14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before Thy face.
Psalm 92:15 To shew that the Lord is upright: He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Romans 3:5 Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man.)
Isaiah 5:16 The Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

Psalm 19:9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
Romans 2:5–6 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; who will render to every man according to his deeds.
I Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear.
Romans 2:11 There is no respect of persons with God.
Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the Law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the Law to do them.

Romans 2:8–9 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile.
Isaiah 3:11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin.
II Thessalonians 1:6–8 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; and to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
