130 – SOTERIOLOGY


§ 130. Soteriology is the doctrine of Holy Scripture concerning the application of the merits of Christ to the individual sinner,1 whereby the sinner is led to the actual possession and enjoyment of the blessings which Christ has procured for all mankind.2

  II Corinthians 5:19-20 God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the Word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

  I Corinthians 1:4-6 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; that in every thing ye are enriched by Him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you.
